Chencharu Housing Area in Yishun will yield 10,000 new houses, the first BTO Project to launch this Month

The government released the plans for a 70-hectare HDB estate in Chencharu town, within Yishun. This new area is expected to add 10,000 new houses by 2040, and 80% will be public housing.

The area is bounded Yishun Avenue 1, Yishun Avenue 2. and Sembawang Road. HDB states that this area has been designated for residential purposes since the Master Plan 2019 was released. This area features several horticulture firms, hydroponics farms and exporters freshwater ornamental fish.

According to an HDB press release dated June 12, the design plan for the new Chencharu will capitalize on the area’s history and legacy, as well its proximity to existing transportation nodes.

The new Chencharu Housing Estate will include existing amenities, such as HomeTeamNS Khatib Khatib Central Neighbourhood Centre or Khatib Station on the North-South Line.

HDB states that it has plans for future educational institutions and nursing homes.
